The select board voted unanimously to adopt a revised town manager performance appraisal form on Sept. 16, streamlining a prior checklist into a bullet‑style evaluation that asks the board to assess overall performance and list areas for growth.
A select board member moved to adopt the revised appraisal and the motion passed unanimously. The revised form replaces a dense checklist with broader performance categories and a narrative comment field so the board can note strengths and identify targeted goals.
Board members also discussed priorities the board expects the town manager to emphasize over the coming year. Those priorities included maintaining or restoring a fully staffed office, establishing stable and baseline financial reporting in coordination with the treasurer, and developing a road plan for the town’s paving and maintenance work. Members also requested accelerated updates to the town website to restore archives and make minutes and ordinances accessible.
The board confirmed it will undertake the manager’s required interim performance review under the manager’s contract at the six‑month mark. The manager’s contract signing date (April 29) means a six‑month check‑in is due in October; the board said it will conduct that review in executive session following the next meeting cycle.
The town manager said she attends continuing education via the Maine Municipal Association and will bring suggested training needs to the board; board members suggested adding items such as emergency‑management training and website oversight to the manager’s priority list.
No changes to compensation were discussed; the vote at the meeting covered adoption of the appraisal instrument and the scheduling of the interim review.
