Booster groups and local legion riders increase scholarships and outline activities for school year

The Glenrock American Legion Riders presented a $1,500 check to the district foundation; the presenters said that increases their endowed scholarship total to $14,126 and that because the funds are endowed the scholarships will be available in perpetuity. Leah Ann Boyd received and presented the check on behalf of the riders.
All Sports Booster president Beth Plumb outlined the group’s mission and seasonal fundraisers—subs in the fall, butter braids in winter and flower baskets in spring—to fund athlete allotments, scholarships and individual assistance for equipment. The band boosters’ co-treasurer, John Malauskas, described support for ensembles, uniform maintenance, trailers and major events including band night and jazz fest. The newly formed orchestra boosters, represented by Kendra Mabin, said the group will fund adjudications, field trips and guest artists; the orchestra boosters are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and meet monthly via Zoom.
The board thanked the volunteers and donors; the district foundation also reminded seniors about Financial Aid Night on Sept. 25 and the foundation’s Dollars for Scholars program opening in January.
Next steps: Foundations and boosters will continue seasonal fundraising and coordinate with administration for student support and scholarship disbursement.
