County adopts resolution supporting 'A Bolder Way Forward' initiative for women and girls

The Carbon County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 2025-05, formally designating Carbon County as a 'Bolder Way Forward' county and declaring October a ‘A Bolder Way Forward’ month. The resolution passed by voice vote.

Stacy Ann Maxwell and Christina Pei and other coalition members presented the proposal and asked for the board’s support. Maxwell described the local coalition as a grassroots effort aligned with the Utah Women and Leadership Project and said the coalition collaborates with existing local programs to advance opportunities for women and girls.

The resolution states the county will prioritize policies and outreach that advance women’s and girls’ health, safety, education, workplace equality and community engagement, and it references the Utah Women and Leadership Project as the lead developer of the statewide framework. A certificate of recognition designating Carbon County as the third county in Utah to receive the designation was presented during the meeting.

Commissioners spoke in support of the resolution; one commissioner noted community programs such as the Carbon County pageant as local examples of girls’ activities and another commissioner emphasized the value of male allyship. The board moved to adopt the resolution and carried the motion by voice vote.

Next steps: The county will be listed as a designated 'Bolder Way Forward' county and the coalition will coordinate outreach and programming as laid out in the resolution.
