Board permanently expels one student with conditions for readmission

The student may pursue an alternative education outside the district at the parent’s expense but must complete any court- or program-required counseling, including drug and alcohol or mental-health counseling, and comply with program recommendations.
Before applying for readmission, the student must successfully complete two random drug tests at the parent/guardian’s expense; test dates will be selected by the district and must be completed within 24 hours of notification, with results provided to the district within 48 hours. Failure to comply with testing requirements or positive results will delay readmission eligibility and may require additional tests. While expelled, the student is prohibited from entering school property or attending school activities except by authorization, and must sustain at least a 95% attendance rate as a condition of readmission.
The motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote; no nays or abstentions were recorded in open session. Board members noted the decision is subject to the district’s policies and that the board cannot further discuss personnel or student disciplinary matters in public.
