District administrators told the board that the CIBC bank branch in Minooka will close and the district will begin searching for a new banking partner; the nearest branch would be in Worth, Illinois, according to the presentation. The district said it will begin the procurement process for banking services.
On construction, staff reported the South Campus fieldhouse is 'under roof' and progressing, and work at Central has reached the point where contractor activity requires relocating some staff and programs. Administrators said maintenance and some department operations will be relocated for the remainder of the school year because the existing roof must be peeled back to install the new roof.
Staff also said they will relocate the foods room and bistro for short periods during construction and that contractors and project managers (Nicholas and DLA referenced in the presentation) are coordinating timelines. Local contractors are working on the job sites, the presenter said, and board members were invited to tour the facilities.
Separately, the district scheduled a live demonstration by Clear Armor, a company that installs security film on glass, for Oct. 9 at the Grundy County Sheriff's Department range so the district can see the product's performance and evaluate whether to pursue it despite its cost.
The board heard the updates as information; no substantive votes were taken on contracts or construction change orders at the meeting.
