Dean Button, city engineer, announced that the city awarded a resurfacing contract for the Erie Lackawanna Trail and that contractor work would begin immediately.
"We received bids for the resurfacing of the Erie Lackawanna Trail from Sibley where it begins all the way to 80/94. Milestone Contractors is our contractor...On Monday, they start milling and resurfacing that trail," Button said. He and the mayor asked cyclists and trail users to expect closures and cautioned that work will include milling before paving.
The mayor described the trail network as a long-standing priority and noted the resurfacing follows decades of use. No budget figures were announced at the meeting; staff identified the project contractor and start of site work as the key operational update.
