Council members said the letter was prepared in coordination with town partners and asked the mayor to authorize signature because the letter’s draft included language for other municipalities to sign as their chief elected officials. The mayor and other council members thanked the towns and staff who drafted the letter and noted related meetings with stakeholders were scheduled.
Alderperson Fabrizio asked about engagement with state representatives; the mayor said he would follow up with interested council members outside the meeting. After adopting the authorization resolution, the council moved into executive session to discuss the status of collective bargaining agreements; the mayor told the public there would be no voting items coming out of the executive session.
