The Town of Templeton Capital Improvements Committee elected Justice Graves as chair and Liz Toth as clerk at its Sept. 17 meeting. The chair nomination was approved 3–0 with one abstention; the clerk nomination was unanimous (4–0). Immediate past chair Justice Graves presided over the meeting until officers were elected. He disclosed a family relationship with Select Board representative Candace Graves, saying, “I, myself, Justice Graves, and Candace Graves, are related. I am her son,” and noted the relationship is on file in the town clerk’s office. Candace Graves abstained from the chair vote. Committee members nominated and seconded the officers and took roll-call votes. No member volunteered to serve as vice chair; committee members said they did not see a mandatory need for a vice chair given the committee’s current size and that a vice chair could be appointed later if necessary. The election of officers sets the committee’s leadership for the upcoming capital season. Justice Graves will preside over meetings and carry out outreach authorized by the committee; Liz Toth will act as clerk and handle minutes and distribution duties unless the committee later assigns them elsewhere.
