At the Sept. 17 Public Works and Safety meeting, staff presented updated sponsorship tiers for the Fourth of July parade, noting the next year marks the nation’s 250th anniversary and will require larger contributions and expanded programming.
Staff asked the board to approve the updated sponsorship fee schedule and to authorize the department to waive entry fees in certain cases, including veteran groups and other organizations that provide substantial financial contributions. "Any of our veteran groups, generally get waived," staff said, and added that the standard entry fee is $50. The board voted to approve the presented sponsorship fees and to forward the schedule to city council for final adoption.
Staff said fee waivers would be handled on a case-by-case basis and that waivers would most commonly apply to veteran groups or community organizations that contribute significantly to the event. The item was approved by motion and voice vote and will go to city council for adoption.
