At the Sept. 17 Public Works and Safety meeting, the board approved the award of a contract, pending legal review, to Olson to install an asphalt connection path from the city bike path to the skate park and Sportsplex.
The project is intended to improve safe pedestrian and bicycle access to the nearly completed skate park and to connect users to the Sportsplex. Staff said the project had three competitive bids and recommended Olson as the lowest responsible bidder.
"I'm asking for approval pending legal review, to award to Olson at the lowest bid of $48,800," said Jenny, who presented the item. Staff said Milestone bid $59,840 and Site Services bid $62,300. The board made a motion to award the contract pending legal review; the motion received a second and passed by voice vote.
Staff said the path will provide a wide route from the main bike trail into the Sportsplex and that construction will proceed after contract execution and any required legal sign-offs.
