On Sept. 17 the Hibbing City Council approved its consent agenda, which included multiple routine and substantive items.
The council approved three batches of accounts payable dating Sept. 5, Sept. 11 and Sept. 16 with combined checks and drafts totaling more than $3.2 million across the items presented, and approved payroll for the period ending Sept. 5. The council corrected a clerical error to set the Truth-in-Taxation meeting for Dec. 3, 2025, at 6 p.m.
Substantive consent items included authorization for the mayor to sign a revised letter supporting a site-specific sulfate standard for U.S. Steel Keytac, a letter of support for Hibbing HRA's repositioning plan for multiple apartment properties, and approval of a $6,940 contract with Bay West for hazardous-material removal at the Central Range Public Works facility. The council also approved an agreement with Live Barn to allow streaming of sporting events at the Hibbing Memorial Arena.
Other routine personnel and license items — promotions, hires, special-event permits and license renewals — were approved under the consent agenda without additional discussion.
