City staff presented an update on the fiscal-year 2025–2026 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) at the Sept. 17 meeting and asked the council to receive the presentation and allow staff to correct typographical and funding-source errors before returning the CIP for formal approval. Staff summarized more than $64 million in planned projects spanning streets, water and wastewater, parks and facilities; they said roughly 73% of the planning total is expected to come from grants and external sources and listed specific projects including Sunset Avenue/US 101 interchange design, Plunkett waterline replacement, a wastewater plant project (reported as about 93% complete) and the Annie & Mary Trail work. Staff recommended the council receive the update and defer formal approval until the corrected CIP document could be returned at a future meeting; the council agreed to have the corrected document brought back as a consent item at the next meeting. Council and audience members praised street crews and the city's grant successes but also raised questions about sequencing and staffing for concurrent large projects.
