The Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety granted multiple right‑of‑way and curb‑cut permits during the Sept. 17 meeting, including work for Prime Cat Contracting, Frontier Communications and a drilling contractor working for Tetra Tech on an environmental investigation at the former Modine Manufacturing site.
Street department staff described an application from Prime Cat to cut an alley at 1917 East Broadway to repair a sewer; staff anticipated the work would be completed within the week. The board approved several grouped permit applications from Frontier Communications for boring and limited street cuts at addresses across the city (including Mall Road and Wabash Avenue locations) for communications work.
Notably, staff presented a request from Tetra Tech and SCS Drilling to install a monitoring well in the city right of way at 600 Water Street — the old Modine manufacturing property. Staff said the installation on the south side of the Modine parcel would support an environmental investigation and that a separate well already exists on the Modine property to the north. Staff said the duration of the environmental study was indefinite and that the right‑of‑way well could remain until the study is complete.
The board moved, seconded and approved the various curb‑cut and right‑of‑way permits. Staff and the board did not place specific temporal limits on the investigative well beyond the description that the site would remain until the environmental work concludes; the board directed standard permit conditions and coordination with the street department for traffic and restoration.
