Gaming board approves three truck‑stop video poker licenses in St. Mary, Pointe Coupée and Calcasieu parishes

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana Gaming Control Board on Sept. 18 approved three original Type 5 video draw poker truck‑stop license applications for facilities in St. Mary, Pointe Coupée and Calcasieu parishes.

Assistant Attorney General Steven Sumbler introduced the first application by Super Fox (doing business as Silver Fox Casino) for a Type 5 truck‑stop license in St. Mary Parish and said state police investigator Glenn Barrett conducted suitability checks and an on‑site inspection. Investigator Glenn Barrett reported he “did not find any information that would preclude [the applicants] from continuing to participate in the video gaming industry” and said the facility met statutory criteria for a qualified truck stop, including truck parking for 50 tractor‑trailers, concrete travel lanes, full‑service laundry, private showers and posted licenses. The establishment consists of 6.664 contiguous acres, Barrett said. Ms. Lewis moved and Ms. Traylor seconded approval; there was no recorded opposition and the application was approved.

Assistant Attorney General Catherine Gitts presented the second application for C Store Properties 2 LLC doing business as Winners Club Casino in Pointe Coupée Parish. Investigator William Landry reported suitability investigations for several associated persons and an on‑site inspection concluding the facility met the criteria for a qualified truck stop, including 50 truck parking spaces, asphalt travel lanes, a full laundry, private showers, permanent fuel storage and 6.61 contiguous acres. The applicant submitted its application within 36 months of the location’s prior license, which the investigator said made it exempt from the one‑mile distance rule. Ms. Hamilton Acker moved and Mr. Langley seconded approval; the board approved the application with no recorded opposition.

Assistant Attorney General Quintel Jackson presented the third application for L.M. Daigle Oil Company, Inc., doing business as Lucky Delta Casino in Calcasieu Parish. Investigator Glenn Barrett reported the rebuilt facility met the truck‑stop criteria following Hurricane Laura damage and the establishment consists of 7.57 contiguous acres, with 50 truck parking spaces, concrete travel lanes, a 24‑hour owner‑operated restaurant and permanent fuel storage. The applicant submitted an application within 36 months of the prior license surrender; Barrett reported no information that would preclude issuance of the Type 5 license. Ms. Becknell moved and Mr. Poole seconded approval; there was no recorded opposition.

Ending: Each of the three Type 5 truck‑stop license applications was approved by the board at the Sept. 18 meeting; all approvals followed presentations by the attorney general’s office and Louisiana State Police investigators.
