WIMBERLEY, Texas — The Wimberley City Council on Sept. 8 proclaimed October 2025 as Hill Country Night Sky Month, recognizing the city’s designation as an International Dark Sky Community and promoting events to reduce light pollution.
Mayor Pro Tem Rebecca Minnick read the proclamation, which notes Wimberley’s designation and lists community partners including Wimberley Valley Dark Sky, Hays County Friends of the Night Sky, Texas Master Naturalists and the Hill Country Alliance.
Greg (last name not provided), a Dark Sky volunteer at the meeting, thanked the city for its support and said the month will include Parks & Recreation events such as the Blue Hole Star Party on Oct. 25, a Howl at the Moon dance party on Oct. 7 and Boo Hole Halloween on Oct. 18.
