Brent Kuykendahl told the Lewisville City Council during visitors forum that a citywide prayer rally will be held Oct. 4 at Wayne Ferguson Plaza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and asked the city to provide additional police patrols during the event. Kuykendahl said 12 churches were participating and invited mayor and council to attend or address the gathering. "I'd like to extend an invitation to you, city council and other city leaders to join us," he said. Mayor TJ Gilmore and staff acknowledged the announcement and staff reminded the speaker that city services such as police patrols can be coordinated through standard event permitting and that organizers can use the city's resident app to raise logistical or safety concerns. Council took no formal action on the request during the meeting; staff follow-up through event-permitting processes will determine resource allocation and deployment.
