Auburn council annexes two properties, approves rezonings and PDD for new homes and industrial uses

The Auburn City Council approved the annexation of two county properties into the city and several rezonings and conditional uses during its Sept. 16 meeting, Mayor Ron Anders said. The council approved annexation of property at 301 Lee Road 15 (Persimmon Drive), approximately six acres, and an approximately 22-acre parcel at 2045 Lee Road 137 (Wire Road, the former Behrends Mobile Home Park). The council also approved rezoning of part of Persimmon Drive for contractor warehouses, offices and a laydown yard and approved rezoning of another Persimmon Drive parcel of just over 10 acres from rural to industrial. In a separate approval on the city's west side, the council rezoned about 10 acres near Wrights Mill Road, south of I-85 in Ward 7, from rural to a development district housing designation and approved a planned development district (PDD) for 19 single-family homes. Mayor Anders said that rezoning of the Wrights Mill property had been postponed previously (July 8) at the request of Councilman Max Coblentz.
