Fort Atkinson City Council on Sept. 16 approved purchases for Kiwanis Field improvements at Rock River Park, authorizing bleachers from BSN, soccer goals from Keeper Goals and concrete work from A-1 Concrete. Parks staff presented quotes and recommended acceptance of bids: bleachers from BSN for $11,150; soccer goals from Keeper Goals for $6,431.75; and concrete work from A-1 Concrete at a cost not to exceed $30,336.02. Staff said the city must front the invoices but that donations and grants from the Kiwanis Club and the community foundation will reimburse the city. Council asked about wildlife entanglement with netting on soccer goals; staff said nets will remain up during active use and be taken down at season end to reduce wildlife interactions and extend net life. Council approved the purchases and authorized staff to proceed.
