Tooele County Council opened and closed required public hearings after receiving guidance from the state auditor—s office and approved several budget adjustments and a resolution authorizing compensation for the county auditor.
Allison McCoy said the state auditor—s office informed the county that the budget hearing held on Aug. 19 was not properly noticed; the council opened a public hearing to correct that notice as part of Resolution 2025-19, accepted public comment (none was offered), and then closed the hearing and passed the resolution.
On Resolution 2025-24 the council approved three budget adjustments: a $1,475,000 transfer from a Council of Governments-directed fund for Tooele City—s Drew Bay Road project, $138,360 for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and $49,000 for the Health Department. Allison said the Drew Bay Road transfer reflected Tooele City—s requested funds for a city project that had applied for funding. The public hearing on Resolution 2025-24 was opened and closed with no public comment.
The council also passed Resolution 2025-23 authorizing County Auditor Allison McCoy to receive compensation for serving on the Utah Local Governments Trust board of directors, disclosing the amount of $300 per meeting plus travel. Allison noted she receives that compensation and the resolution authorizes acceptance of those benefits.
Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved unanimously by the council.
