MISD honors Region 6 principals of the year and recognizes eight teachers for literacy training

Montgomery ISD trustees recognized two campus leaders who were named Region 6 principals of the year and presented awards to eight teachers who completed Letters (LETRS) professional training.
District staff said Tim Williams, principal at Lake Creek High School, and Gifford Whitehead, principal at Oak Hills Junior High School, were named principals of the year for Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (Region 6). Presenters cited both principals’ years of experience, staff testimonials and campus engagement.
District staff also recognized eight educators who completed the two-volume Letters (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) professional designation, which included more than 100 hours of coursework and four live sessions. The district said the cohort was facilitated through Region 6 and used Lexia-derived content.
Trustees and administrators praised the honorees for their leadership and growth, and the group posed for photographs during the meeting.
