The Bay City ISD Board authorized staff to issue a request-for-qualifications to select a realtor to market and sell the district property at 2445 Foot Avenue (Pierce Elementary), with a submission deadline of November 3. Staff said the property carries a historical designation and requested realtors with experience working with historic-property issues. The RFQ will be posted in local newspapers, on the district website and distributed to local real-estate firms; staff said the resulting contract may be extendable for use on other district property sales or terminated if the district chooses a different approach. Board members asked whether the historic designation restricted demolition; staff said the site is a subject marker and currently does not bar demolition but that it would be prudent to select a realtor familiar with historic-designation processes should issues arise. Staff said the RFQ committee will evaluate sealed proposals and bring recommendation(s) to the board. The motion to launch the RFQ passed by voice vote 4–0.
