Staff reported the library would receive $8,147 from the state for interlibrary loan support; the fire department would receive approximately $52,000 in state EMS equipment funding; police forfeiture funds of about $6,780 were listed for remote pilot/drone equipment; and $25,000 in insurance proceeds from a demolished police vehicle were to be appropriated toward vehicle replacement. Council approved the items after a public comment from a resident who supported library funding and asked that the funds remain in library services.
The items were processed as budget adjustments to carry the grant and appropriation amounts in the city’s fiscal accounts; none required new tax revenue. Council members said they supported accepting the state funds and reallocating insurance proceeds to replace damaged equipment.
These adjustments will be implemented by the respective departments and tracked through the city’s budget process; the library board and department leads will report on program use as required under grant terms.
