County approves landfill access road contract to expand usable cell area

Tooele County approved a contract to relocate the landfill access road outside the active cell so the county can begin using the interior of the landfill cell for additional capacity. County staff said the work is part of a previously presented landfill master plan, the solicitation drew 10 respondents, and the low apparent bidder was Tough Excavating. The measure passed on a unanimous voice vote.
Wayne (staff) said moving the road allows the county to utilize more space in the middle of the landfill cell where the road currently runs. The project was publicly bid, attracted 10 respondents and the county recommended the low apparent bidder to perform the work. Councilman Stromberg moved to approve the contract and Councilman Wardle seconded; the motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
