Councilmembers used their closing remarks to note the recent ribbon-cutting for a Shell Recharged electric-vehicle charging station in Torrance, which they said includes 20 new charging ports and is the first Shell EV charging site in Los Angeles County.
“Welcome to Shell Recharged. They had 20 new charging stations right in our city of Torrance,” Councilmember Sheikh said, adding that he charged his car at the site. Mayor Chen remarked that the station is the first Shell EV charger in Los Angeles County and identified its location as near the Jack in the Box on Torrance Boulevard at the former Lazy’s site.
Council comments were celebratory and informational; no council action or funding was associated with the announcement. The council encouraged residents to use the new facility, and no additional details (ownership agreements, city permits or incentives) were discussed during the remarks.
