Tallahassee’s Ethics Board voted Sept. 16 to adopt a revised strategic plan that adds measurable goals for the coming year and defines when the office should use outside investigative resources.
Ethics staff brought a draft that incorporates specific, measurable objectives the board had requested at its previous meeting. The plan includes training metrics, improved public outreach, and a provision to establish a vetted list of external investigators to use when three or more active cases require additional capacity.
Ethics Officer Dwight Floyd said the measurable objectives will help the board evaluate whether strategies are being met and identify when the office should adjust workloads or seek outside help. Floyd said the vetted external resources are intended as contingency support for fact‑finding and that outside investigators would conduct interviews and present findings to the ethics office for board review.
Board Member Caroline Klanky seconded the motion to approve the plan after brief discussion; Chief Kelly moved the motion. The plan passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
