The Community High School District 155 Board of Education on Sept. 9 approved memoranda of understanding concerning health-insurance changes and adopted a resolution authorizing membership in the Northern Illinois Health Insurance Program (NYHIP) cooperative. The actions follow committee discussions earlier in the evening and work with the district's insurance broker and the employee association. Board motions to approve the two memoranda of understanding and the NYHIP resolution passed by roll call after movers and seconders were recorded. Administrators and board members praised collaborative negotiations between the district, the D155 Education Association and CHESS leadership, saying the changes were expected to save money for the district and improve protections for staff. Assistant superintendent of HR and board members were thanked specifically for work on the insurance project. The board also approved, by separate motions, the annual compensation reports and multiple policy revisions after a second reading; the compensation reports will be posted on the district website as required.
