City backs letter seeking state cost-share for East Broadway Dam; city share estimated at $650,000

Dickinson, N.D. — The Dickinson City Commission on Sept. 16 approved a letter of support allowing the city to apply for a DWR cost-share program for construction of the East Broadway Dam. The cost-share program is expected to cover 75% of project costs with the city responsible for the remaining 25%.
Senior engineer Keller told the commission the project is included in the DWRs development plan and that the application is anticipated for approximately $1,950,000 in DWR funds and a $650,000 city share for a total installed cost of approximately $2,600,000. Keller said the citys 25% share was included in the capital-improvement plan (CIP) for 2026 and would be funded from GPT (city capital funds);
Keller described the item as a standard cost-share application process and recommended approval. The commission voted to approve the letter of support by unanimous roll-call vote.
Keller also reported to commissioners that an emergency bank stabilization repair in the Dickinson Drainage Way near Edward Jones and the Circle K gas station will proceed as an interim measure ahead of the drainage study; the repair was described as an estimated $137,000 interim fix funded from cash on hand and intended to stabilize an eroded bank.
Action: Motion to approve the DWR cost-share letter was made by Commissioner Riddle, seconded by Commissioner Murphy; vote was unanimous in favor. No public comment was recorded on the project at the hearing.
