Sidewalk update

One reroute was required at the east end because a communications box and a power pole sat within the planned path; staff said they diverted the sidewalk alignment to preserve existing infrastructure.
Mailboxes and post-office coordination
Staff explained they attempted to return mailboxes to their established locations where possible, coordinating with the post office to avoid placing boxes too close to the street or in locations that would interfere with mail delivery or winter plowing.
Water lines, capital projects and railroad schedule
Council discussed smaller capital water-line projects (examples cited included lines near Jeff's Auto Body and other neighborhood work) and the scheduling constraints of a railroad contractor. One contractor declined the Sept. 29 date and discussions were under way to move the work into a week of October dates; staff said the contractor may need to expand crew size or shift the work to an alternate week but no final date change was authorized at the meeting.
