The Wichita Falls City Council on Sept. 16 approved rezoning about 0.18 acres at 400 Fort Worth Street from light industrial to a single-family zoning district to allow Habitat for Humanity of Wichita Falls to build a house.
Fabian, city planning staff, told the council Habitat had acquired the site but the current light industrial zoning prohibited residential use. Staff and the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the request; both recommended approval and the council voted to rezone the parcel so the agency can proceed with plans for a new home.
The council vote was unanimous on the motion to approve the rezoning. Staff said individual construction will still require applicable building permits and inspections.
