Board renews college-credit agreement; 21 students have used program, staff to expand offerings

Another board member asked whether introductory courses without prerequisites remain available or whether the district selects which courses are offered; staff said one course is currently available and that the district may add more courses as it works with the partner.
The board was told that the same coursework is required of all students whether or not they purchase the college transcript; students who do not buy the college credit still receive Lower Moreland credit. The district identified Mister Solomon as the point person for the program.
The contract renewal was approved by voice vote. The board did not provide detailed pricing in the oral record; meeting materials attached to the agenda contain the contract and cost information.
Board members said they expect up to about 15 students in the spring under the renewed contract. Staff said they will continue to work with the partner to add course offerings over time.
