County staff told the commissioners that an updated draft of the animal-control ordinance returned from the county attorney still required edits and that a completed draft will be posted for public inspection before a scheduled public hearing.
The board was told the ordinance will be placed on public display so residents can review it and submit comments; a public hearing will be scheduled after the display period. “That draft that we have is is not complete. So at our next work session, we will get the completed one, and we will also, go ahead and set a public comment period or public… public hearing and it'd be on public display,” a county official said.
Separately, county staff reported progress on the new animal shelter and said materials and medicines are being procured; staff estimated the facility could be up and running by the middle or end of next month if there are no hold-ups. No ordinance vote was taken at the meeting.
