The Town Council of Indian River Shores on Sept. 16 approved the first reading of Ordinance 582, adopting the town’s five‑year capital improvement program (CIP) for 2026–2030 as part of its comprehensive plan.
Town Attorney read Ordinance 582, which the attorney described as adopting the 5‑year capital improvement program and noting compliance with Chapter 163, Florida Statutes. Council members moved and seconded the ordinance first reading and approved it on a roll-call vote; Mayor Foley, Vice Mayor Atwater, Council member Altieri and Council member Dane were recorded as voting “Aye.”
Council members offered brief remarks thanking staff for preparation of agenda materials that summarized the CIP and related budget items; no substantive amendments to the CIP ordinance were made at first reading. The council noted that the CIP will be housed in the public‑facilities and capital‑improvements element of the comprehensive plan, where it will inform future roadway, stormwater and other capital projects when adopted and funded.
Because this was the first reading, the ordinance will return for a subsequent public hearing as required by the town’s ordinance-adoption process.
