Committee members announced the rodeo scheduled at the end of the month and asked for volunteer sign-ups to staff a small number of remaining shifts. The tourism director said five volunteer slots remained for the event date and thanked volunteers who had already signed up, including Alderman Cleve, Alderman Hovind and one member named Max.
The tourism director said the correctional center’s MECC will provide personnel to help keep people off fences and provide a visible presence, though not formal security. The director emphasized the volunteer shifts are only a few hours and asked committee members and community members to sign up.
No formal motions or funding decisions were associated with the volunteer recruitment. The committee also noted competing commitments (for example, one volunteer who had to miss the event for a wedding) and encouraged outreach to parks committee, tourism and historical groups to fill remaining spots.
