The committee approved acceptance of an ADECA lighting grant and the city's matching share to upgrade parking and park lighting at Sokol South and Sougal South.
Adrian, COO at PERA, described the project as addressing insufficient lighting after the park experienced increased use. The work will add poles and fixtures in a smaller parking lot adjacent to multipurpose fields and upgrade fixtures at a larger parking lot and nearby playground and pavilion. Adrian said the grant was structured as a 50/50 match on a $100,000 award and that the city was requesting financing for its share; county funds will cover the partner match.
Adrian also noted the infrastructure will support future security camera installations. The committee approved the grant match by voice vote.
