The Los Angeles City Council confirmed the mayor's nominee for city clerk on Tuesday after the nominee, who has worked at the city for more than two decades, introduced herself and outlined goals to streamline services.
The nominee, who said she had been with the city for 26 years and with the Clerk's Office for 24, thanked Mayor Karen Bass and the Government Operations Committee for the nomination and said she would focus on leveraging technology to improve contract management, payment processing and customer responsiveness. "I will ensure we consistently operate with the highest standards of efficiency and responsiveness by leveraging modern day technology and optimizing all available resources," she told the council.
Councilmembers expressed support for the nominee's commitment to technology improvements and operational efficiency. One councilmember noted frustration with paper copies and encouraged the clerk's office to reduce redundant paper motions at the dais.
The council voted to confirm the nominee; staff recorded the roll call as 14 ayes on the confirmation vote.
Ending: The newly confirmed city clerk told the council she looks forward to partnering with council offices to modernize processes and improve service delivery across the clerk's portfolio.
