Sunrise Movement urges committee to elevate climate reporting and sustainability work

"If someone tuned into this meeting without understanding the committee's scope, they would have no clue that addressing the climate crisis was within your purview," Cohen said.
Cohen said Sunrise Movement had submitted written recommendations and asked the committee to adopt several low‑cost reporting steps and to link economic and recovery planning to the energy transition. She said she was disappointed the committee has not implemented suggested reporting items and urged faster action.
Chair Maggie Ullman and Assistant City Manager Ben Woody responded that staff are preparing sustainability indicators and quarterly reporting and that the committee will see sustainability material in future agendas. Woody described a new monthly memo in the committee materials intended to provide key project updates and said city staff expect to add quarterly data reporting that the committee has requested. No formal action was taken during the public-comment period.
