County removed two recycling units from Dixon after repeated illegal dumping, staff says

County solid‑waste staff told the committee on Sept. 9, 2025, that two recycling units previously located on Dixon’s West End were removed because of repeated illegal dumping and misuse.
“...we had pulled the two recycling units out of the West End of Dixon, due to illegal dumping, and continued abuse,” said Jeremy, the county staff member who reported the action. He said discussions with the city of Dixon indicated the city “does not want them back” and that the county is seeking an alternate location, possibly elsewhere in the city or another municipal site.
Jeremy said the county had an existing contract with Midwest for the dumpsters and that other county locations currently hosting recycling units include Franklin, Ashton, Sablette and Pawpaw. He asked residents to contact county offices for a list of current drop‑off locations.
No formal motion or vote was associated with the report; the committee received the update and did not take action at the meeting.
