KANE COUNTY, Ill. — The Transportation Committee on Sept. 16 approved a revised agreement regarding the county engineer salary program that staff described as changing the prior six‑year term to a perpetual agreement.
Staff said the agreement historically renewed every six years; under the revision the agreement is perpetual and will not require six‑year renegotiation cycles. Committee staff explained that IDOT and federal funds pay for 50% of the county engineer salary and that appropriation requests and transfer authorizations are taken through the county board each year to effect the IDOT payment share.
Committee member Ermin Iqbal moved the resolution; the motion passed on roll call with affirmative votes recorded.
Staff emphasized the administrative nature of the change; the committee recorded the vote and placed the updated agreement in the committee record.
