County approves Pine Valley staff addendum and small private‑pay rate increase

The county board on Sept. 16 approved an updated staff addendum for Pine Valley Community Village and modest increases to private‑pay resident rates.
The resolution adopts several changes to align Pine Valley personnel policies with county policy, including adjusting vacation and leave accruals, adding a grievance process intended to resolve employee complaints in‑house, clarifying on‑call requirements and premium pay, and accommodating light‑duty restrictions for on‑the‑job injuries. The administrator said the revisions were the result of months of work to remove inconsistencies and to make staffing policies uniform across county departments.
Supervisors also approved a private‑pay rate change: assisted‑living private pay will increase by $96 per month and the skilled nursing private‑pay rate will rise by $10 per day. The administrator said the increases are modest, fall within market comparisons and are needed to offset rising costs for medication, food and supplies. "We just want to be able to sustain making sure we're able to pay our bills... food cost, medical supplies," the administrator said.
The board also approved several Pine Valley related contract amendments to cover unexpected placements and to ensure funds are available for placements requiring protective placement. Health & Human Services staff described contract amendments to increase provider contract totals where placements exceeded original estimates.
The resolutions take effect immediately; officials said the changes aim to improve personnel consistency, clarify expectations for on‑call staff and stabilize Pine Valley’s finances amid rising operating costs.
