Piedmont teams open season with several conference wins; cross-country posts top finish

During the Sept. 16 meeting the athletics presenter provided an update on fall sports results. The middle-school volleyball team was 2-0 with a win the previous day and had a home match scheduled the next day. Middle-school soccer was reported as undefeated in conference play and 5-1 overall.
In cross-country, the presenter reported one meet so far, at Mountain Island Charter. She said Raleigh Gaff finished first in the girls'race with a time of 15 minutes, 19 seconds; Sakina Kadar finished fourth in 17:02. For boys, the presenter reported Connor Watkins finished 23rd with a time of 18:13 and Javier Washington finished 25th with a time of 18:34.
High-school volleyball was reported at 8-1 in conference play and high-school soccer at 5-1 in conference play. The athletics report was informational; no actions or budget requests were recorded at the meeting.
