Authority authorizes release of bid documents for light-duty pickup; no purchase yet

The Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority voted Sept. 16 to authorize staff to release invitation-to-bid documents to solicited vendors for a Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport hybrid light-duty pickup, Michael McClellan and Director Ted Ward said.

Ward said staff finalized a detailed specification and comparison tables (included in the meeting packet) and plan to send the bid to six vendors to obtain the best price. He emphasized the current action authorizes only release of the bid documents; the authority will return to the board with vendor pricing and a formal purchase decision at a later meeting.

A motion to release the invitation to bid was made, seconded and approved unanimously. Public comment included one commissioner remark supporting the procurement as overdue; no outside public comment was recorded on the item.

Staff will report back with vendor responses and a recommended purchase for board approval.
