The Policy Management Committee voted unanimously Sept. 16 to forward a technical amendment to board policy FAA that replaces references to the Key Facility Indicator (KFI) with the Facility Condition Index (FCI) as the district’s metric for capital-prioritization planning.
Andrea Suyatocha, deputy chief of the Division of Facilities Management, said the change reflects a shift in the capital-improvement planning process presented to the board Aug. 21. “We are shifting for this year and moving forward in our CIP planning away from the key facility indicators and using facility condition index,” Suyatocha said. “That is really the technical update we are bringing today.”
Committee Chair Julie Yang moved to forward the technical amendment to the full board; the motion was seconded and the committee approved the move unanimously.
Why it matters: the FCI is a common facilities metric that measures the relative condition of building systems and helps prioritize capital investments. The amendment is technical: it updates policy language to reflect the district’s new metric without altering the board’s broader policy goals for facilities planning.
