Commissioners adopt 2026 holiday schedule; Columbus Day returned

County staff said the 2026 schedule mirrors the 2025 schedule with one change: Columbus Day was restored to the county holiday list and an extra day that had been added around Christmas in 2025 was removed.
A county staff member presented the table of holidays and explained the change; Commissioner Watts moved to accept the schedule as presented and Commissioner Beauchamp seconded. The motion passed on a 3–0 voice vote.
Why it matters: Commissioners noted prior coordination issues with the jury schedule in the previous year and said this year’s process included preconsultation to avoid conflicts. No fiscal impact or additional staffing actions were discussed at the Sept. 16 meeting.
Ending: The holiday schedule for 2026 was adopted on a unanimous voice vote and will be placed in county administrative calendars.
