County approves multiple road project pay estimates totaling roughly $1.0 million

Key approved payments reported during the engineer and road‑department presentation included: Schwartz Construction pay estimate No. 4 for $373,439.29; Barranco Brothers pay estimate No. 3 for $125,892.32; Bronco Brothers pay estimate No. 9 for $184,665.60 and a separate Bronco Brothers pay estimate No. 1 for $94,495.05; Bechtel Paving pay estimate No. 1 for $54,514.85; Jensen Brothers pay estimate No. 7 for $50,080.99; and Win Construction pay estimate No. 2 for $77,351.97. The board approved each pay estimate after the road department confirmed percent complete, material on site, or work performed.
Presentations from county engineers also updated commissioners on multiple design and permitting steps for 2025–2026 projects, including easement work, cultural and environmental permitting, and estimated bid schedules. Staff told the board they expect two or three projects to be ready for bid this calendar year for construction in 2026 and that bridge funding requests did not receive flex funding but that another bridge project secured a different funding source for 2026 construction.
Motions to pay contractors were moved and seconded by commissioners as each estimate was presented and passed by roll call. The board’s approvals allow contractors to be paid for completed work or materials on hand; some items remain in retainage while final construction work is completed.
Commissioners asked staff to compile a list of projects close to bid and provide rough cost estimates before bidding to ensure projects fit in the 2026 budget, and to identify inactive projects that might be removed from current plans to avoid unnecessary design expense.
