Park County public health signs interagency MOU to continue WIC services with regional partners

Park County commissioners on Sept. 17 approved an interagency memorandum of understanding to continue participation in the Colorado WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program in partnership with Valleywide Health Systems (Alamosa) and the Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments.
Carol Togue, director of Park County Public Health, described the agreement as a renewal of a longstanding partnership that enables local delivery of WIC services and access to broader regional resources. Togue said the partnership allows Park County to collaborate with Upper Arkansas ACOG to expand services in underserved areas and to leverage additional capacity for local residents.
Commissioners asked for clarification about funds; Togue and Chair Dave Whistle confirmed that the funds Park County receives remain with the county and are not transferred to partner entities. The board characterized the MOU as a success story in regional collaboration and approved the agreement 3-0.
Togue and staff noted this is the second year of the three-way memorandum and that the first-year partnership went well; county staff will continue administering local WIC funds and services under the MOU.
