County approves short-term contracts for night shelter and homeless prevention services

The Board of County Commissioners approved contracts on Tuesday to fund short-term homeless shelter and prevention services, part of a cluster of deliberation items the board adopted by a 3-0 vote.
Misha Hamlin, director of Lewis County Public Health and Social Services, told commissioners Resolution 25-262 is a contract with the Salvation Army for night-by-night shelter operations and homeless prevention. A motion to approve deliberation items Resolution 25-262 through 25-268 was moved and seconded; the board voted 3-0 to adopt those measures. The contracts were presented as gap funding to continue existing services through the end of September; Hamlin answered commissioners' questions before the batch vote.
