Resident urges cut-through behind Monica Brothers to ease Lincoln Drive access

A City of Orange resident told the City Council on Sept. 17 that Lincoln Drive is difficult for senior residents to exit and suggested constructing a short connector road through an empty parking lot behind Monica Brothers to reach the feeder road.
"As my mom had come in, you know, we have several senior citizens that lives off of Lincoln Drive. . . A solution that I can suggest, there's a empty parking lot behind Monica Brothers. And if they can build, like, a little road that can cut through there to the feeder road, it's much easier to make a right . . . rather than have to sit there for some time 5 or 10 minutes to get out," Eugene Woods Jr. said, giving his address as 2113 Lincoln Drive.
Council members and staff thanked the speaker and said they would speak with the appropriate representatives about the request. The meeting record does not show a formal referral motion or a staff assignment with a deadline; a staff member said, "we will speak with the proper representatives for that." The comment was taken during the public-comment portion of the meeting.
Because the speaker addressed the council during the citizen-comments period, council members did not take immediate action on the request that evening.
