Board proclaims October Fire Prevention Week and honors volunteer firefighters

The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 16 proclaimed October 2025 as National Fire Prevention Week in the county and used the ceremony to recognize volunteer firefighters who responded to a recent Clifton Park apartment fire. Chair members invited public safety leaders and representatives from area fire departments to the dais. The chair recounted honoring several departments the previous night for their response to a fire at London Square Apartments in Clifton Park and said about 30 firefighters from multiple departments attended. The chair emphasized mutual aid among volunteer departments and thanked county emergency services staff. The chair presented plaques to two first responders identified as Mike and Andre and thanked volunteers across the county for training, equipment maintenance and emergency response. The proclamation (Resolution 62) was one of the items read earlier in the meeting and was adopted as part of the package of resolutions approved by the board.
