Harris County commissioners on Sept. 16 approved Supplemental Agreement No. 1 with the Federal Aviation Administration, extending the term of FAA equipment-related agreements at Harris County Airport and adding a new security clause for protection of sensitive information. The county attorney and staff described the agreement as mandatory where the FAA has equipment on an airfield the FAA does not own. “They have some equipment on your airfield that they need to have access to and maintain,” a county official said during the meeting, noting the equipment’s presence explains part of the county’s small matching share on FAA-funded projects. County staff indicated the agreement allows FAA personnel to continue access and maintenance and includes funding arrangements that benefit the county. County staff recommended approval and requested authorization for the chairman, county manager and county clerk to execute the necessary documents. A motion to approve the supplemental agreement was made, seconded and carried; one recorded vote in the transcript was “Susan: Aye.” County staff will complete execution of the documents as authorized.
