Mayor Kownick read two proclamations at the start of the Sept. 16 meeting: one designating Sept. 15–20, 2025, as Rail Safety Week in Cary and another recognizing September 2025 as Constitution Week.
The rail safety proclamation noted that in 2024 there were 103 crashes at railroad crossings in Illinois, resulting in 52 injuries and 20 fatalities, and that the village’s police department will participate in local rail-safety efforts aligned with Operation Lifesaver. The Constitution Week proclamation referenced federal public law that directs annual recognition of the Constitution and invited residents to reflect on civic responsibilities.
Both proclamations were ceremonial and informational; the board did not take formal policy action on them during the meeting.
